Ozarks Food Harvest
September is Hunger Action Month at The Food Bank. A thirty-day campaign devoted to hunger-relief education, awareness, and advocacy. All month long, community members and business partners help Ozarks Food Harvest bring attention to the issue of hunger in southwest Missouri.
When your stomach is growling, it's hard to focus. Let alone learn. In the southwest Missouri, far too many children face hunger. But this September, you can help raise awarenessāand provide mealsā by participating in Hunger Action Month, presented by Mercy.Ā
One in five children in southwest Missouri faces food insecurity. All proceeds from this month-long campaign benefit ourĀ Weekend Backpack Program.Ā Through support for generousĀ donors like you, we can ensure that children in the Ozarks have enough food to live healthy energetic lives.
Proceeds from Hunger Action Month support ourĀ Weekend Backpack Program, providing meals for children like Tyler, age 10, who have difficulties learning and thriving in school because they donāt get enough to eat.
āWhen Iām hungry, it makes me feel really irritable, and I just donāt really feel the same way as I normally would,ā Tyler shared. āWhen Iām learning, it will derail the way that Iām learning because Iām not listening the same way that I was when I was not hungry.ā
