A Letter from the Owners

January 2017 began the way most January's in Missouri do: unpredictable weather, setting of new goals, a close-knit family-based community, and generally trying to live “better” in the coming year.  However, January 1, 2017 marked a day for major change for 5 Pound Apparel… new ownership. As we (Ben and Brina Thomas) became the owners of both 5 Pound Apparel stores, effective that day.

This type of transition can be challenging for everyone involved.  Words that typically surround this type of business deal include awkward, uneasy, hesitation, reluctant, and many more with various negative connotations.  This is simply not the case for us.  We have found through the first month of ownership that we have been blessed to have not only acquired an amazing business, but also an incredible staff.  Our current employees are well-trained, insightful, patient, upbeat, and willing to give a helping hand in any way possible.  It is quite clear that they all take ownership and a certain pride in the work they do.  This has allowed Brina to focus on learning more of the managerial duties, and work to achieve the overall vision we have for the store.  We couldn’t be more thankful for each and every one of them.

We also want to thank all of our awesome and loyal customers for stopping in to meet us. Our plan for the store is it keep as awesome as Bryan and Becky have built this company to be. 5 Pound Apparel will continue to help the Ozarks Food Harvest by donating 5 lbs of food for every purchase. As well as continuing to carry high quality and ethically made products.

So while transitions can be hard, they can also build strengths.  After witnessing how this major transition is underway, I am positive this transition will absolutely do just that.  And while this wasn’t the first change, it absolutely won’t be the last for 5 Pound Apparel. 

We couldn’t be more proud to be the new owners of this socially conscience business, and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for 5 Pound in the coming years.
